The United States has imposed sanctions on four Indian companies. The U.S. government stated that the sanctions were imposed due to their involvement in the sale and transportation of Iran's petroleum products.

The four Indian companies targeted are Flux Maritime LLP, BSM Marine LLP, Austenship Management Private Limited, and Cosmos Lines Incorporation, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Among these, Cosmos Lines Incorporation has been sanctioned for allegedly being involved in transporting Iran’s petroleum products. The other three companies are accused of being engaged in the commercial or technical management of vessels that transport Iranian oil and petroleum products.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Iran relies on a covert network of vessels, transporters, and intermediaries to increase its oil sales and finance destabilizing activities.

He further warned that the United States will use all available tools to target every aspect of Iran's oil supply chain. Those involved in the Iranian oil trade also face significant sanction risks, as Iran remains under extensive U.S. sanctions. Many countries and companies avoid directly purchasing Iranian oil due to these restrictions.

A statement from the U.S. government on Monday noted that despite the sanctions, Iran’s oil trade continues. Sanctioned Irani an oil tankers are transferring oil to non-sanctioned vessels outside port areas, which is then delivered to foreign buyers. The proceeds from these oil sales are allegedly being used to fund Iran’s military and various armed groups engaged in regional destabilization activities.
